1st Airplane Ride & 1st Day at Disney World

A few weeks ago Zach and I made the decision to plan a vacation to Disney World. We figured "Why wait?". We thought it would be nice to have something happy to look forward to other than just sitting around dreading the upcoming deployment. So, we packed our bags and headed off for Sunny Florida. The last time we went was on our honeymoon. It is hard to believe that was 5 years ago & now here we are back again, but this time with 2 precious little boys.

Very Late Friday, January 26, 2007 we headed to Charlotte, NC. We spent the night because our plane left at 8AM Saturday morning. Zach and I smartly got separate rooms so that we could each have a little boy with us in hopes of actually getting some sleep. Charlie, woke up around 2AM (one hour after I'd gone to bed) wheezing and having a terrible time. All I can say is yeah for the nebulizer that came to his rescue and helped him get a few hours of sleep even if it meant me holding him all night. He's such a busy boy that even a sleep deprived mom appreciates any time snuggling with this little guy.

Early Saturday Morning, January, 27, 2007 we boarded the plane and headed for Orlando, Fl. John Christian actually remained fairly calm while Charlie was overjoyed at flying on an airplane for the first time. While both boys were a little wiggly they remained fairly quiet with a lot of coaxing from us and we were complimented by people on their good behavior when the flight ended. The same thing actually happened on the way home. It was definitely a smart choice to drive to Charlotte for the non-stop flight.

The wonderful people at Disney picked up our luggage along with us and delivered us safely to the hotel. Our room wasn't ready because it was only 10:30 in the morning. We got our tickets and headed off to the Magic Kingdom for the start of a fabulous family adventure! I must say next to having these little boys it was the best decision we've made in a long time.

Here is John Christian in line waiting to go inside the Magic Kingdom.

Charlie crashed on the bus ride from the hotel over to the Magic Kingdom.
He was one exhausted little boy.

Seeing the castle for the first time.

Here is a huge smile from John Christian. I have a little snow globe with the castle in my china cabinet. My parents bought it for me when I went with them after college. John Christian loves to hold it and I have been promising him for over a year that I would take him to see the real castle. He could hardly believe that it was right there in front of him. I don't know who was more excited, John Christian or us seeing him and Charlie so in awe of everything.

Notice the shoes in the photo. Charlie being asleep is about the only time he wore them. People constantly stopped us to ask about his shoes.

Waiting in line for the Teacups which was the very first ride the boys rode. I was happy that Charlie was asleep because I had no desire to spin in circles.

John Christian spent a lot of time on his daddy's shoulders.

Hooray! The Teacups were great! What's next?

Where am I?

Waiting in line for the race cars. Both boys could hardly stand the wait! It was one of the few things we actually had to wait for because of the small number of people at Disney. We were thrilled to finally get on the cars because some crazy woman got in line behind us. When the line split we tried to get away, but she followed us continuing to talk nonsense to us.

I took this while I was driving the car. Charlie thought the cars were wonderful, but when I'd bump into other cars he wasn't too sure.

Zach had to push the pedal, but John Christian got to steer.

Charlie was really ticked off when we made him get off the race car and back into the stroller.

One of Charlie's favorite rides was the Transit Authority. It's like a little train that rides around part of the top of Epcot and through rides like Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear.

There was no line and we were able to stay on this without getting off.

The Carousel

Charlie rode all by himself... .strapped down tight of course.

Dumbo
This was one of the longest waits of the whole trip, but well worth the fun flying in the air.

All John Christian wanted was a hook, hat, and sword. He wanted to wear it on the Peter Pan ride in order to defeat Captain Hook. It was adorable!!
