Shoes!!
Shoes Part I
Zach is in the field this week & it seems like everytime he's gone for a few days things get a little crazy at home. On Monday night we had to go to Target to find dye free benadryl for John Christian because his red dye allergy has come back in full force. Of course it was at 6PM when the boys get rowdy just before bed time. We looked and looked, but no dye free benadryl which meant we would have to search somewhere else.
Charlie still hates wearing shoes and while we were in there he threw his shoe at
me. It ended up in the back of the buggy & of course I forgot all about it. We got almost all the way to the Walgreens before I realized I may have forgotten his shoe. I searched the van from top to bottom. No shoe. Thankfully, the Walgreens had the dye free Benadryl which I quickly purchased before heading back down the road to Target in search of Charlie's shoe.
As luck would have it the cart was still in the parking lot with the shoe inside! :) I'm going to have to start duck taping them to his feet!!

Shoes Part II
This morning I was in search of both of the boys' shoes. We were already running late for preschool and I couldn't find either pair of shoes. I couldn't even find John Christian's spare pair. Well, actually I found just one of them!! John Christian always knows where everything is, but when I asked him about the shoes he told me he didn't know. So, he went in sandals with socks in the 30 something degree weather and Charlie went in a pair of JC's old shoes that were too big!
Just before we got to the school I asked John Christian about the shoes. This time he remembered that they were in my room. He said, "Charlie and I were playing and hiding in your bed. I didn't want you to know we had our shoes in the bed so I took Charlie's shoes off and put them in your room."
Sure enough when I got them home from school I found Charlie's shoes near the wall by my bed. However, John Christian still couldn't seem to remember where he hid his shoes, and I couldn't find them anywhere!

Shoes III
Ok, after all of the fuss about shoes I decided to take the boys shoe shopping. We headed to the neat little shoe shop that I found that reminds me of the one I went to as a child. This one has a little pretend caboos for the children to sit on while the old man shoe fitter measures their feet and brings them shoes to try on. John Christian thought this place was fabulous! Expensive, but well worth me not fighting with the kids since they also had coloring books, basketballs, a little wooden race car that they could drive, and several other toys. Not to mention the nice little man who helped deal with the children.
Anyway, I told him I wanted something kind of conservative the boys could wear with anything & I thought brown was a good color. He brought out a pair of Sperry Topsiders. I remember these from when I was younger, & they are now back in style. I was originally thinking of something closer to a tennis shoe, but once John Christian saw them and tried them own he would have nothing else! I'll take photos of him in them and post a photo because he is such a cute little guy!!
In addition to the topsiders Charlie got a new pair of velcro shoes. He even wore them in the car and didn't take them off because he was too fascinated by the velcro!! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that I have a winner & that maybe Charlie will keep his shoes on! Maybe!!
