More Special Prayers... This Time For Papa Brent

I am pasting part of an e-mail that Zach's mother sent us b/c it explains exactly what is going on with Zach's step-father Brent. (Papa Brent to the boys) Zach & I plan to put him on our church's prayer list & would greatly appreciate it if any of you would do the same. I know 3 people who have had brain tumors & all continue to live amazing lives despite the odds they were given. I truly believe that God hears all prayers no matter how large or small. He may not answer them when & how we want, but he does answer each & everyone if they truly come from your heart. Thanks again for remembering our families in your prayers during their times of need. I will be happy to return the favor!

"Just wanted to ask for prayers for Brent. We found out yesterday that he has a brain tumor (actually there are two masses) and will be having surgery on Thursday or Friday of this week. We won’t know exactly when until Tuesday after the holiday. He may go into the hospital as early as Wednesday for prep work. The location of the tumor is a good one for recovery. It is not in an area that affects speech or motor functions. The doctor said that it could be an abscess. That is the best case scenario. If it is not an abscess then it is probably a cancer that has moved from another part of his body. If that is the case, they will analyze the tumor after they take it out to determine what part of the body it came from and then determine how they will address that issue after he gets radiation for the brain. The worst case is that it is brain cancer. If it is then it is terminal. The doctor, however, does not think that is the case based on the MRI. The tumor looks separate from the brain matter. It seems to be pushing the brain upward and there is a lot of swelling.

The surgery will last about 4 hours. Brent will be in intensive care for 2 or 3 days and then be in the hospital for 4 or 5 more days after that. (All of this is assuming that they only treat the brain while he is there, which I am sure is what they will do. He’ll have to recover from that before they can do anything else IF anything else is needed. We are praying he won’t need anything else.)"
