July 7, 2007 Kristina & Shea's Wedding

This post is late, but it took me a while to edit these photos. Kristina and Shea decided in June that they would get married at home on Saturday, July 7, 2007. Because there was little time to plan and organize they asked me to take the wedding photos & I volunteered to cater the reception. I'm not sure what I was really thinking when I agreed to do this with 2 little boys and Zach in Afghanistan, but it all worked out beautifully. Since Kristina is my sister-in-law I wanted it to be as nice as possible for her special day.

I am no professional photographer and certainly no chef like my brother, but I think I pulled my part off. I really enjoyed doing it, and think it couldn't have been better even if the boys had not been under my feet the whole time. I need to give them credit though because they were pretty patient with me when I was in the kitchen as it continued to rain an hour and a half before the outdoor wedding was supposed to begin. I also need to say a HUGE thank you to Zach's cousin Jennifer who put everything out for me exactly the way I would have. There was no way for me to be in two places at once setting out food and taking wedding photos, and I knew I could trust her to magically make everything happen!!

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite photos. One day maybe we will live in the same place long enough for me to take some photography classes and start my own little business. I know I post a million photos, but I cannot seem to help myself. My aunt once said that she hoped I was taking time to put the camera down so that I could also enjoy the moment. I told her that first my camera snaps photos really fast. Most importantly, my hands feel empty when they are not holding a camera. I just cannot explain it. I have been taking pictures for more than half my life, & it is a part of who I am. I don't have much of a long term memory. So, I love taking photos so that later, I can relive the moment all over again. Plus, I get to share that moment with everyone who sees the photo, & that is what it's all about!

Their family is now official!

One thing that I did learn is that it is hard to get people centered when there is a prop in the background!

Here is Charlie pretending to drink coffee with his daddy. It was too cute for words to hear him talk to his daddy's photo about his coffee.

I tried hard to get a photo of Charlie walking around in my shoes, but every time I clicked the camera they fell off his feet! Notice he is also wearing my socks!

These boys sure love to fight over their Paw Paw!

I took this photo on the way home from Spartanburg. It was not the safest thing to do since we had just past Harbison in Columbia & I was driving. I took it through the front window of my car and cropped out the road and signs. I thought it turned out pretty cool!
