Edisto Beach 2007
Saturday, May 26 - Saturday, June 2, 2007
Mom and Dad rented a house at Edisto Beach like they have nearly every summer since before I was born. We usually go the 2nd or 3rd week in June, but this year we tried something different and went a little earlier. All of the children had fun playing together! The weather was absolutely perfect! It did finally storm, but not until the night before we left and all day the morning we loaded the cars and drove away.
The only downside to the vacation was that Zach had to miss yet another year at the beach due to his all expenses paid trip to Afghanistan, and Stephen just started his new job in Atlanta. Stephen was only able to spend 2 days, but we were all thankful for those.
I took a ton of photos! I posted just about all of them because I just couldn't choose which ones to post! There's nothing like the magic of Edisto Beach, and I hop that one day my boys will feel the same way about this place as the rest of my family does!
On a special note: My friend Ashely's mom, "Miss Carol" who passed away 6 years ago this past April loved Edisto Beach. I can't make a trip there without thinking of her. People always say they have gardian angels watching over them, and I know that she is one of mine. I had a very vivid dream about her when I was at the beach one night. She was exactly how I remembered her: sitting near the growrings late in the afternoon in a beach chair, knees bent up towards the sky, visor on her head, very dark from the sun, and reading a book. In the dream as I watched her there on the beach she would take time from her book to look down below at those she loved to make sure we were happy and safe. She spoke to me, but for some reason I cannot remember what she said. I'd like to think that this dream was real and that it was a little glimpse into her heaven because she was at such peace. I posted this because I hope that one day my boys will read this and know about what a wonderful influence "Miss Carol" was on my life and still is today.

Pause A While
We truly appreciate the old beach houses. This was the first time we have stayed in this house and we enjoyed every minute. It is always so sad to see old houses torn down or fixed up beyond recognition.

I had to take turns taking the boys onto the beach b/c both have no fear of the water! Here is a photo of John Christian taking a turn with YaYa!
Sarah enjoyed watching all of the boys play!
It won't be long before she is running around with all of them!

The little boys got to touch the flounder and look forward to the day when they can go flounder fishing also!
Charlie pretended that "Curious Georgie" was like baby Sarah and had me wrap him up in a blanket while he took turns sucking on the pappy and then letting Georgie suck it.
Charlie got to give Sarah a bottle & a few kisses!
Aunt Becky and John Christian flying his kite.

John Christian got his very first kite from Aunt Becky.
He was most excited that it was Sponge Bob b/c he knows I don't let him watch it!
John Christian loved building sandcastles and swimming with me in the ocean.

Notice the "Daddy Truck Keys" in Charlie's hands. That boy loves his daddy's truck and everything that goes with it!
Thomas wanted a sick of his Colonel's Special Drink.
John Christian loves "Baby Sarah"!

The boys both go spoiled and wanted to be rocked every night before bed.
Charlie could hardly stand the wait to go onto the beach!
Thank goodness Mom remembered the baby gate.
"Take me on the beach now!!"
Beach Bum!
Dad gave Sarah some homemade Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.

Charlie had his first Chips A Hoy on the deck.
He really liked it.

John Christian had one too and you can see it on his face.
They wanted to eat them in the pool, but I wouldn't let them.
John Christian was not camera shy at the beach.
I took many great photos of his beautiful smiling face!

Charlie was great about wearing his hat. If he wanted to go outside he would bring he his hat, turn around backwards, lean his head back, and say, "Hat on, outside!"
Charlie dropped his cookie in the pool and was quite upset.

Awe.... snuggling with Uncle John!
My boys love water bottles for some reason and always have!
This boy has amazing balance!

What a great smile!
THE Look!
I had a little fun with my camera.

I tried to take photos of Amy with the children because as a mom we are always the ones on the other end of the camera.
My boys decided that Uncle John was a great story teller.

Here are the boys early one morning playing nicely with the trains.
Dad and John decided to take the boys for a ride in the boat.
Here we are waiting in the van for them to put the boat into the water.

Hum, I'm not really sure about this boat thing.
Off they go!
John Christian waited patiently with me on the dock while the little boys took a turn on the boat.
Mr. Cool!
Charlie decided that Chillin' Out on the boat was great fun and didn't want to get off.

John Christian even got to fish for a while, but sadly didn't catch anything.
John Christian decided to climb into the pack n play. When I came in the room I found him singing to Sarah. He shouldn't have been climbing in while she was asleep, but hearing him sing to her b/c he said he was trying to put her back to sleep was priceless!
The moon was beautiful this week, but I never could quite capture it on film.
This might be the funniest thing I have ever seen. John Christian asked me for a popsicle. I gave it to him, but he fell asleep immediately.
This shrimp boat was out front the day before we left.
Charlie got to spend some time with YaYa on the beach!

John Christian was a sweet big cousin and read this book to Thomas.
Thomas loved this book so much that we ordered him his own copy when we came home from the beach.
