Pop Goes The Diesel!

In my van we "Jam" as John Christian says to nusery rhymes. Yes, I am driving a mini van and we listen to children's music as if it were rap with the windows down, shouting the words, and bobbing our heads back and forth!! Oh how times have changed!!
One of John Christian's favorites is "B I N G O" & he sometimes refuses to ride in his dad's truck because it doesn't have his favorite music! For the longest time he's been asking me "Where is Diesel?" I never could understand what he was saying until tonight. He finally asked me for "Pop Goes The Diesel" and I realized that he thinks "Pop goes the Weezel" is about one of the mean Thomas The Tank Diesel Engines. No wonder he likes the song so much!

The other song he likes that he misprounces is "A Froggy Went According"! It's so much fun to hear what children think they heard. :)

Charlie's Curls

I am amazed that as each day goes by Charlie's hair gets curlier. We realize he needs a little haircut, but for now we are enjoying the baby curls. We hope they don't go away because we think they make him even more adorable if that is even possible!

When I was pregnant and I found out I was having another healthy boy I asked God to make this one with dark curly hair and blue or green eyes. I guess it just goes to show that sometimes even little prayers that seem unimportant can be answered! Thank you God! We just love this little guy! (even if he didn't have curls!)

THE PARTY!!

On Saturday, September 23 from 3 - 5PM we had a birthday party for John Christian at the Park at the Airforce base right across from the airfield. This is where John Christian wanted to have it. It was a beautiful day with just a little too much wind. The park was crowded with all kinds of people, but we had a wonderful time!

There was another little boy at the party, Harrison, but for some reason I didn't get any photos of him. His poor mom had a terrible time getting him onto the base & we really appreciate her taking the time to deal with all the rules and regulations to bring Harrison!

Thanks to YaYa who drove up Friday night so that she could be here for the party on Saturday.

It was too windy to put the balloons on the table. So, I had to tie them to one of the posts.

I think John Christian would have stayed in the swing the whole time if we hadn't convinced him to get down and have cake & presents.

Rachel's mom said Rachel chose to come to the party instead of going to their beach house for the weekend. She gave John Christian the wooden Happy Birthday Thomas which he loves!

JC, Rachel, and Michael

Charlie ran around like the wild monkey that he is!

John Christian was very sad b/c the HUGE Lightening McQueen Car balloon that I splurged on for this special day flew off it's string b/c some of the kids thought it would be fun to bang the balloons. I think it would have gone anyway due to all the wind. Plus, I can't imagine that thing floating around our house for the next month until the helium ran out!

Charlie had fun spending time with YaYa!

Daddy's Boy!

Ramon

The Special "Cars" Cake! It was marble cake inside! The thing was huge. I bought it from Sams Club b/c they were the only place that had the Cars decorations available. Everyone else's stuff was backordered. I was just happy to find this one b/c it is exactly what John Christian wanted with his favorite color - blue!

I tried putting the box behind the cake and candles, but they just wouldn't light. The kids all sang and we pretended to blow out the candles! John Christian was a great sport and didn't fuss one bit!

Before we could even sing all the children had blue icing on their faces and fingers because they kept touching the cake trying to sneak a bite of icing!

John Christian is just the happiest little 3 year old!

Another Daddy's Boy

"Little Grant" as John Christian likes to call him made a special trip out to the party per
John Christian's request!

John Christian said, "Mom, this is the best birthday cake I ever had!"

Time for the pinata!

Cake, my favorite!

The pinata was a SMASH HIT! Although technicaly we didn't hit this one! We pulled the ribbons out to make the candy fall! I don't trust the 3 year olds with a bat!

Yes, Candy!! Lots of Candy!!
I'm sure the parents were thrilled with all the candy their children took home!

Michael was thrilled to have a break from all the moving he is doing. They sold their house, moved into an apartment, and are moving into another house. During all of this his dad left for Iraq. They have been a very busy family. The little girl you see in the photos that looks bigger than most of the kids is his sister Hadley!

Lots of presents!

One of the favorites is a remote controlled car Uncle John, Aunt Amy, & Cousin Thomas sent up with YaYa. Charlie has fallen in love with it also! John Christian is now understanding why we told him he needed to share Charlie's birthday presents and actually let Charlie play with them!

YEAH!!! Charlie just loves being outside!

Charlie was so messy after all that cake! I didn't think it would ever come out of his clothes!

The Sturdivant Family

I Wonder.....

Is it bad that my 3 year old knows what a Frapichino is and that if he wants one we need to go to "The Thomas Store" (Barnes and Noble) or to ask for Starbucks? Here in town there are 2 stand alone Starbucks with drive thrus, one in the Harris Teeter, & one in the Barnes & Noble! We really don't go that often, but John Christian is a very fast learner & has quite the love for coffee.

Yesterday, John Christian was a pretty good boy at the Pediatrician's office. The Dr. ordered xrays on both of the boys'chests and one of John Christian's sinuses because of all of the never ending coughing. The xray ladies were AMAZED at what a HAPPY and WELL BEHAVED little boy John Christian was.

We were happy that Zach made it to the office before we finished with the xrays and was able to help out with Charlie. After it was over Zach decided to take John Christian for a special treat at the nearby Starbucks. Yummy!!

I'm sure the boys are just fine, but I'll post the outcome of the xrays when the doctor calls us this morning.

Quick note about leaving comments & the envelope.

I wanted to point out that under each blog there is a place that says comment. If you click on it a comment is left on the blog that I can later read along with others who read the blog. If you click on the little picture of the envelope you can e-mail that specific blog link to someone. I hope this helps clear up what these things are for some of you that have asked! :)

Charlie at school for John Christian's Party

He loves swinging on the playground swing!

He also had a great time running around on the playground and playing with the big kids.

Charlie at Chuck E Cheese

Charlie had a great time at the party. Usually he is in the stroller because it's too hard to chase both boys by myself.

Yes, I am finally able to run around this place!!

Want a bit of Pizza?

Charlie is quite the fan of this car! It takes your photo every time. Maybe one day I'll scan some of the photos that were taken & put them on the blog. One day.... maybe!

Whether he's driving this car or little cars on the floor he already knows much like John Christian did at this age to make car noises. He doesn't say much else, but he sure can make great sound effects!
