Question about God

Last Sunday we went to church. I know I think even God was surprised. We like going to church. We know it's important & that it should be a priority. It's not that we don't want to go, but that the nearest Episcopal Church is 25 - 30 minutes away depending on how you hit the stop lights & with the 2 little guys we just don't always make it!

Anyway, when we do go to church the boys stay in the nursery until it's time for communion. Then, Zach goes & gets the boys so that we can take them with us to the alter. This past Sunday after communion we headed back to our seats & I told John Christian we should kneel & say a prayer to thank God kind of like we do before we eat. Well, we may not always get John Christian to church, but we must be doing something right because he asked me something he never asks when we say the blessing at home. "Where's God?", he asked looking around?
"Shhhh... Not so loud", I told him.
"Where's God?" he asked a little louder this time.
"God is everywhere buddy, but we can't see him." I responded.
"No, Mommy! Where is God? I want to see him now!" John Christian said getting louder.
He continued to ask the "Where's God?" question over & over.
I finally pointed out the priest & told him to ask her.
After the service John Christian did ask the priest. Her response was very similar to mine, but she added that his question meant his parents needed to get him to church more often so that he could learn the answer! :)

As parents we often wonder what kind of job we are doing. I may not always be perfect, but I think that day was a great day for me as a parent. He may not understand God yet, but at least my 2 + year old knows there is a God! That makes me happy b/c I must be doing something right!
