Happy Birthday To Me!

Saturday, June 24, 2006

Ok, This is not the greatest photo of me b/c I had just gotten out of the shower & had soaking wet hair. Oh well! Even though I don't like the photo of me it doesn't matter because my precious John Christian is sitting in my lap helping me blow out candles & that alone improves my look by 200%!

This had to be one of the best birthdays ever! It was fun to have my entire family together for a change! John Christian is the sweetest little boy. (sometimes) After Zach took Charlie out of the room at 6:45AM John Christian decided got in the bed and laid down beside me. He couldn't go back to sleep, but he gave me kisses, hugs, & pats & said, "Mom, are you going to wake up? It's your birthday."

I got him to sing "Happy Birthday To Mommy". After that he sweetly said, "I bought you a present!" I didn't think he'd gotten me a present because we haven't seen much of Zach & the 2 of them haven't had much time to shop. So, I asked him where he got the present. To which he replied, "I bought it at the mall!" Next he said, "I'm going to go & get it & then I'll open it for you!" I was extremely curious & told him I would stay in the bed & wait on him to come back with my present.

After quite a while he came back holding a bottle of pink lotion from Bath & Body Works. He proudly told me, "I got you this soap for your birthday!" I asked him again where he got the present & if he really went to the mall. This time he answered, "I got it from Aunt Amy's room!" He was absolutely precious about the whole thing. It tops my list with one of the most special things anyone has ever done for me! :)I just thanked him & told him how much I loved it!

After I got out of bed I discretely asked "Aunt Amy" about this special gift from John Christian. I wondered what happened while he was away from the room looking for my gift that he "purchased" at the mall! Amy told me that he came into her room with a very serious look on his face & looked all around the room. He left for a few minutes & then came back. She said he saw the lotion in the corner of the room and asked, "May I have this? I need a birthday present for my mommy!" Of course she said yes, & he happily ran off to bring me this wonderful gift! Can you believe what a thoughtful little boy I have! Moments like this make being a mom better than anything in the world!

Later in the day Zach took John Christian shopping at the little beach gift shop. I had told Zach earlier in the month that all I really wanted for my birthday was for him to let John Christian pick out whatever he wanted me to have even if it was a train! When they came back from the store John Christian gave me 2 cards.

The first was from him with an older man that appeared to be a grandfather, a man in the middle that appeared to be his son, & then a little boy. Inside the card read, "If a man speaks in the forest and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?.... Happy Birthday!"

The second card was from Charlie & it had Tweety Bird on the front & said, "Wow! Wook at you! You're a gweat Big 2! (Zach added a 9 - thanks!) :)
Zach said that when he held the pen in John Christian's hand to help him write MOM on the card John Christian saw the first M and asked, "Are we writing Mcdonalds on this card?"

Finally, John Christian brought me a present that was paid for at the store. It was a tiny bar of soap that looked like a flipflop which is pretty appropriate since I pretty much wear the same flipflops year round. Hum..... he thinks I need soap. Does that mean I stink??? ;)

How did I get so lucky! It's been a great 29 years! I can only imagine that the next 29 will be even better as I watch these 2 angels turn into men!

Oh, & Charlie also gave me kisses on my birthday! This is a new trick that I have taught him & I personally think it is very cute!
