A Visit With Family and Old Friends
On Friday, June 15, 2007 the boys and I headed to Spartanburg. Pop doesn't get out much these days, but if we haven't been to visit in a while he makes a trip to the toy section at Walmart. Then, he lets me know that he has something waiting at his house for the boys for them to come and get. The whole way to Spartanburg both boys wanted to know "Where are we Mom? Are we at Paw Paw's House?" It is a long 2 hour drive, but we always have a nice visit. The first thing that we do is go straight to Grandma Dot and Pop's because John Christian knows this is where his prize will be. Pop said he spoiled Zach that way and intends to do the same for my boys!
This year Charlie was old enough to ride the train at Cleveland Park. Both boys were very excited, and we got to ride it twice. John Christian pitched quite a fit when it was time to go, but hopefully we will get to go back again and let him ride it once more before the summer is over.
In addition to the boys seeing family I got to have a night out on the town! One of my college roommates, Katy, married Zach's best friend, Brian, & they live next door. My other roommate, KC, lives in Melbourne, FL, and we don't see her often enough. I knew she was coming into town when I planned this trip with the hope that we could all get together. It worked out great and the 3 of us had a wonderful time talking and catching up on Saturday night. It was fun to drive all over Spartanburg to see and discuss all of the changes that have occured since we were there as Freshman nearly 12 years ago! I wish we got together more often, but I'll take what I can get! Thanks girls for a special early birthday treat!
With his love of trains I would not be suprised if this boy grew up to be an engineer!

The boys just love having all of their daddy's old cars to play with.
