"I want A....

Kitty!" Yes, that's right. Yesterday on the way home from preschool John Christian announced that he wanted a new kitty since our old one was taken by our old neighbor. I suggested a bird. To which he replied, "I don't want a stinkin' bird. I want a kitty!" How about some new fish? He thought about fish for a minute and said, "Ok, I'd like my very own shark. Yes, I'd like a real shark!" I tried to explain that sharks are big and sometimes dangerous. I told him they live in the ocean and that we couldn't have one in our house. So, then he said, "I want a kitty and a shark!" I explained about sharks again. I also told him that Molly might eat a kitty and that our house might not be a safe place for one. He told me that he would just move into the toy room with the kitty and protect it from Molly.
What a mess!

Then, last night around 3AM I heard a panicked voice and cries from John Christian's room, "I want my kitty. I can't find my kitty. Where is my kitty!" I found him with the overhead light on looking for a kitty that we don't have. He asked me, "Can you help me find my kitty?" Poor little fellow. I tried for nearly 2 hours to get him fall completely back to sleep. Eventually, he came and climbed into bed. I just let him stay there because I felt so bad about him having a nightmare about the lost kitty.

**Note: I think this kitty talk is a result of us seeing Cats in cages at the Pet Store a week ago when we went to buy Molly's Dog Food. He wanted to bring one home from the store that day.
