Recent Happenings

It has been a while since I've written anything in the blog. I have photos & stories, but just don't have the time right now to write them down. Here are a few things that have happened.....

A few weeks ago I forgot to write that we took John Christian to see his first movie. (maybe I did write this - I just can't remember) Anyway, we took both boys to the 4:45PM Wednesday showing of Curious George at the $2 theater. John Christian & Charlie amazingly sat pretty sill during most of the film. Towards the end John Christian ran around and said he was being a monkey, but it was ok b/c there were only 2 other people in the theater & they were on the very front row. It was a cute movie, but mostly nice for the 4 of us to get out and have a little family time during the week.

This is really old, but have I written that when Zach teaches John Christian to say something new, John Christian asks me, "Can he teach me that? Is that ok?" or sometimes, "Don't say that Dad, it's not a good word." I find this hilarious! It is not even that Zach says really bad stuff, but sometimes we have to be reminded that what we talk about may not be appropriate for a 2 year old. Example: John Christian now knows the word "Marijuana." He got this b/c we have talked about the idiots in Zach's Battery who smoked it & got caught on more than one occasion. However, if John Christian were to say it in the wrong place DSS may decide to come and investigate! :)

Charlie pulled himself into a standing position for the first time yesterday! Ok, I wrote this on May 7 - so that means it was May 6 when he pulled himself to the standing position while holding on to John Christian's little chair!
WHATEVER CHARLIE WANTS...... CHARLIE GETS!
It amazes me the things I let Charlie do. I pretty much let him eat anything b/c he always wants whatever is on my plate in addition to his baby food. Recently he had his first hot fudge Sunday cake. He reached in to grab it. I moved it away. He screamed bloody murder & I just handed him the spoon full of ice cream. He was happy & the people around us didn't have to hear him scream anymore. In addition to icecream he's had: beef tenderloin, chicken, pork roast, brown rice, broccoli, cheeseburger, and I'm sure many other things. He only has 1/2 of a tooth so far, but he manages!

Crazy happenings: We have decided to sell our house! Yes, you read that right! That is the main reason I haven't been blogging. I put the house up on www.militarybyowner.com last Friday. I wasn't near ready for anyone to look at the house, but I figured I should put it up so the company could mail me the yard signs. I hoped by the time the yard signs arrived the house would be in decent shape. The good news is according to the site the house has had around 180 people look at it on the internet. I've also had 2 phone calls. I showed the house a little while ago to a couple from Tennessee & now I am waiting for someone stationed at Fort Jackson to come and look at it. I don't even have the signs to put in the yard yet! I just hope this is a very good sign of things to come! While I am sad about leaving the house where I borought my boys home from the hospital we will be happier to see Zach more.

The whole reason for selling the house is that the boys hardly see Zach. He goes in at 5:30AM & doesn't get home until after 6:30. Since he may deploy again I feel like the boys need more time with their dad. If we move to Fort Bragg we will be less than a mile from Zach's office. It's super small (1300 sq feet) & lots of things will go into storage. However, I'd live in a cardboard box if it meant that Charlie could get to know Zach a little better. Sometimes you just have to get your priorities straight! Just say a little prayer that this all works out! We'll be on to something knew in a year or so anyway b/c Zach will hopefully finish up with his job at Bragg by then. We'll see.....

In the meantime..... Keeping the house clean with 2 little boys & a dog is going to truly test my patience! Let's hope someone buys the house in 24 hours before the little tornados come through! Right now they are at my neighbor Jamia's house so that the couple coming to see the house can look without mass confusion! Wish me luck!

Oh, I am also putting in a plug for my Dad's real estate business. I have been learning how to make a website for him & how to promote his business through internet searches like the yellow pages, yahoo, & google. It's not great yet, but you can check it out at www.bradfordvillagerealty.com. Tell your friends to check it out if they need a good realtor or want to buy waterfront property at the lake in Santee. Again, it's a work in progress. If only there were more time! :)
