Some Catching Up To Do....

We have had quite the week. I'm going to try & play catch up! First, after months of having what seems like every childhood sickness the boys were finally feeling better. Zach has been working from 5AM - 6:30 or 7PM. I decided the boys & I were going to get out of this germ infested town for a much needed spring break! I hadn't been home to Cameron since Christmas & that was a very fast trip with a lot going on. So, I threw some things in the van & the boys & I headed south.

We had a great couple of days! There aren't many photos b/c I thought I charged the camera before I left, but the battery died. When I got home I realized that the charger wasn't actually plugged into the wall. Brilliant!

We got their late Monday afternoon. John Christian was so excited to see Colonel & YaYa! Uncle John, Aunt Amy, & Baby Thomas came over to see us for a little while Monday night. John Christian was so happy to be in Cameron that I didn't think he would ever go to sleep. What a nightmare! At least Charlie was tired!

We spent Tuesday with my dad. I brought John Christian's little gator with us to Cameron. He had a grand time driving around the farm. However, my dad has a real tractor. It didn't take long for John Christian to tire of his gator & want a ride on the real thing. He also helped my dad work on the summer garden & sat on the dock while he fished. John Christian is quite the outdoorsman & was thrilled to be outside for a whole day!

Tuesday night Uncle John came over to have dinner with us. After dinner John Christian dyed his first Easter Eggs. We were limited in our colors since John Christian is allergic to red dye. Usually, his face breaks out into a rash when he eats something that has red dye. I wasn't willing to see what would happen if he dyed his hands red! John Christian had a grand time dropping the eggs into the dye. He dunked them from one color to the next. All the eggs turned out green along with John Christian's hands! Thanks YaYa & Uncle John for helping John Christian dye Easter Eggs for the first time!

Usually, when we go home it's on a weekend for a special event or for a holiday. Because it was during the week we actually had time to spend time with friends & family doing what we wanted. We spent Wednesday morning with my nephew Thomas, my sister-in-law Amy, my brother John, & my grandmother. I hadn't seen Thomas since he came to Charlie's Baptism. He has grown so much! (I'll add pictures when they e-mail them to me!) John Christian calls him Thomas the Train. Charlie & Thomas just wanted to pull on each other. It was fun to watch them try to figure out each other.

After our visit with baby Thomas we went to my grandparents' house so that we could visit with my grandfather. Papa spent a week in the hospital recently & hasn't been feeling well. He loves children, but because he only has use of one arm he's scared to hold them. Charlie started to fall asleep & Papa told me that he would like to hold him, but he only has only the one good arm. I put Charlie in the bed with him. Papa was so happy. Charlie slept for nearly an hour. There is nothing I can write to describe how much that moment meant to me. It is one I will treasure for the rest of my life.

We ended our day at my friend Christy's house. We have been trying to get our children together for the longest time. Christy & I have been friends since birth. Her mom is my Godmother. Her little girl, Meg, just turned 3. John Christian is a few weeks older than Christy's niece, Bari Arden, who was also there. We got our oldest child, Molly, from Bari Arden's dad. Are you confused yet? The children had a wonderful time riding on Meg's Gator & little John Deer Tractor in addition to playing on her swing set. Charlie even had a good time! Charlie got to swing in the baby swing & play with toys on a blanket in the grass. John Christian did not want to come home! He absolutely adores Meg! Charlie was asleep soon after we pulled out of the driveway. John Christian was another story. He was so wound up that it took me over an hour to get him to go to sleep!

Thursday morning was our day with my mom. First, I took John Christian to "Mr. Richard's" gas station for his first bottled Coke & real bubble gum. John Christian was thrilled because I don't let him eat a lot of junk food. He thought this was just great! After Mr. Richard's we went took John Christian to a horse farm where they train race horses. He was a little overwhelmed by the size of the horses. They were much bigger than the one he got to ride at the Fayetteville Botanical Garden. He was even scared to touch them. When he gets bigger Mom & I will take him back to ride one for real!

We left the horse farm & headed off to an old plantation for our Easter Egg Hunt & Picnic. My mom's friends' Miss Mary Lou & Mr. Bob graciously allowed us to hang out in their beautiful front yard. They also had special Easter treats for the boys & let me drive them around the plantation in their golf cart while Mom hid the Easter Eggs. John Christian had so much fun he told me that he was going to stay there. It was a gorgeous day, & the perfect ending to our visit to Cameron! I just wish the car ride back home that afternoon had been as enjoyable!
