Charlie Update
Charlie got more sleep last night than he has all week. At 4:30AM we got up and had a breathing treatment along with something to drink. I was so happy the child was drinking, but then he threw most of it up. He went back to bed and was up before 7AM. His mouth and face were dry and he was stumbling around like a little drunk person. He did drink a little gatoraide this morning and he ate some applesauce and scrambled eggs. All of which he has kept in his system for 3 hours. Hooray!
We did make a trip to the pediatrician's office just to make sure he was not too dehydrated. He went for oer 14 hours without a wet diaper and finally had a very small one about 7:45AM. I've never thought I'd want to change a wet diaper, but at this point I'd be more than happy to change them every hour if I had to because that would mean the little guy is hydrated. Anyway, we saw the PA. She said that Charlie is on the fence with the dehydration. She told me what I already knew and that is to keep trying anything to get him to take in liquids. Only time will tell and I just need to continue to watch him and pray that he drinks something!
Here are examples of what I have tried: gatoraide (various flavors), popsicles, jello, sprite, gingerale, yogurt, mashed potatoes made with chicken broth, and the list goes on. I've tried using straws, various cups, and even a bottle. No such luck so far.
